Women Workers

In India and in many parts of the world to be poor, self-employed and a woman is to be exposed to vulnerability and exploitation. If there is no form of collective support she has no power to negotiate her wages and is invariably exploited by traders and contractors. Of the female work force in India more than 90% are in the informal sector. They do not have regular salaried employment with welfare benefits like workers in the organised sector. They are usually illiterate who make a living through their own labour or a small business.
